Teeth and Tails

Hello Friends, Enob Mort here! Travelling Scholar from Zolenberg University.

I have glorious news! Abmiram has opened an animal shelter. She acquired a piece of land west of Zolenberg and we built a barn and fences. She has been caring for all sorts of lost or injured critters.

The newest shelter addition is Kor-Gi, a fine pup who has been helping out in the absence of Lleb.

Teeth and Tails
We care for creatures big and small.
Volunteers and Donations Welcome!

The animals go on to warm couches or travel far and wide with adventurers.

If you are in need of a new companion or an activity to fill your days, contact Abmiram at Teeth and Tails.

Stay clean friends,

Marshmallows

Hello Friends, Enob Mort here! Travelling Scholar from Zolenberg University.

My readers have requested a recipe. While I am not a chef nor baker I do know of a sweet camping treat.

It is called a s'more. The term originated from tiefling travelers who would often ask can I have some more.  Which when contracted became the treats popular name s'more.

To make a s'more you will need the following items:

Chocolate        Two biscuits        Marshmallow            Fire and roasting stick

Instructions:

1. Place two biscuits close by and set a portion of chocolate on one of the biscuits

2. Skewer the marshmallow on a roasting stick and warm over the fire

3. If your marshmallow catches fire, you have done it wrong. Simply blow on the flaming food, DO NOT wave your stick frantically. You will fling the molten food on your father ruining his shirt and burning his skin.

4. The correct roasting technique is to warm the marshmallow by the coals until it turns golden brown. Be sure to roast all side for an even melt.

5. Place the melting marshmallow on the biscuit with chocolate. Use the second biscuit to create a sandwich and remove the stick.

6. Let be a moment to allow chocolate to melt. Consume in 2-4 bites.

While chocolate is not a common travelling good, it can be purchased in larger city centres. Marshmallow on the other hand is a difficult find.

Marshmallows take their name from the flower Althaea officinalis. A small white flower that grows on the banks of marshes. It's botanical name means to heal though it is most commonly referred to as marsh-mallow.  The fluffy white cylinder we know today is created by boiling the root pulp and whipping it into a sugary pillow.

It is no secret that tiefling scholars have recreated the marshmallow using more commonly available resources. I have on occasion asked local bakeries to import this new creation as it is shockingly more cost effective than making them with my current knowledge.

Light of my Life

Hello Friends, Enob Mort here! Travelling Scholar from Zolanberg University.

It has become common knowledge that my exploits took to me a great many places. Yet my heart remained in Zolanberg. My dearest wife and children truly are the light of my life. It was for them I took up adventuring and their guiding light that brought me back home.

Such a fantastic thing light is. A fickle friend to measure, acting as waves in a pond or as little pebbles thrown through the air. I have prided myself on seeing the vastness of the world, the minutia of its microcosm's. Through my writing I have taken readers on adventures of knowledge.

Today let us explore the science of spear fishing. In my youth my family took a vacation to visit the gnomes in The Khraal. At first I was horrendous. Every spear pierced the water above the fish I aimed for. Then it was explained to me that the water bends the light and I must aim below my target.

Having much improved at the art, I returned home and begged my mother to bring me to work with her. Mother worked at the great library, and I was determined to find a book that could help me calculate the perfect trajectory.

I read a book by Snell who studied how light bends when it passes into a different medium.

As I expected the angle was important and the measure of how fast light moves through the medium. Turns out light moves slower through water than air, which causes it to bend and fool our eyes.

Over the years I have investigated this phenomenon and learned that almost all peoples in Eberron's history have used this knowledge. It is only the Human race that squabbles over who discovered this phenomenon, ignoring the oral traditions of generations past.

Perhaps I shall write another book titled the Laws of Refraction that celebrates the knowledge and traditions of non-human races.

Stay clean friends.

Seafaring Flight

Hello Friends,

Enob Mort here! Travelling Scholar from Zolanberg University.

A great mystery occurred yesterday. My colleagues and I had been working on a brand new ship. It had vast sails, 3 levels of finely polished wood and iron fittings. I walked into the shop to see the roof completely torn asunder. Our beautiful ship stolen!

My heart is sad for the stolen ship, however I am most devastated because I left my satchel on the poop deck. In it I had written letters to my friends. I will have to re-write them. My friends are sure to be out seeing new places, making new friends and having laughs.

If you have any information about the location of our great ship please, visit the university and ask for Enob Mort.

Stay Clean.

Sharp Shooter

 Hello Friends,

Enob Mort here! Travelling scholar from Zolanberg University.

Today let's talk projectiles. Often in my battles, I would toss magic stones at my enemies, or blast them with caltrops. Even more powerful was our ranger. She could blind an ogre from 70 yards and still have accuracy left to spare.

When firing for distance the key is to angle our projective equally between the horizon and the sky above. However this is hardly the most effective in a life or death situation. When firing from bow, catapult or thrown weapon it is best to throw straight at the danger. This will provide maximum impact or penetration.

The mathematics are a tad tricky, if you haven't studied them. But for the beginner I recommend trial and error. Practice and persistence will do a new adventurer well.

Fact of the Day, Thonk is ogre for Eagle

Cheerio!

Feathered Friends

Hello Friends,

Enob Mort here! Travelling scholar from Zolanberg University.

When traveling through The Shimmerwood Forest, I came across a peculiar feather on my way to Trolanport. Stuck in the ground it far surpassed my height and was deep blue. I knew at once such a feather would come from the fearsome Roc.

A massive bird with talons and a keen eye. It is wise to be wary of such a creature. We are typically frightened of things we don't know. Yet no fear pierced my heart. The diet and prey of Roc's consist of large creature, perhaps the giants in the area. I would look as appetizing as a grain of salt next to a fine cake.

The feather reminds me of my good friend Elaria. A reliable ranger who would turn you into a pin cushions should you cross her. Such fine arrows I could fletch for her, with mithril tips that fly true. If something of this extravagance is of interest, call upon Enob Mort.

Master Artificer and Lover of Learning.

Cheerio! and as my friend would say, Stay Clean.

Know your Broom

 Hello Friends,

Enob Mort here! Travelling scholar from Zolanberg University.

Today I write to you from the road. I am travelling east threw the woods Zilargo and remembering the books from my youth. My mother bought me Diffron's Guild to Woodworking. I have passed several broom trees on the journey and fondly recalled the time I made my first broom. I had selected the best twigs and found a stiff handle of ash. I used my best twine and lashed them together.

It fell apart the moment my father swept fire pit. Such was my desire to select the best materials I forgot to use my best knots. Lesson learned. So fair readers take heed, for the best sweeping tools use broom tree and tight knots.

In my travels I saw many sweeping tools made of broom, so much so that it has become an ubiquitous term in the north east of Eberron.

Hope you are enjoying Mort's Memo.

Cheerio! and as my friend would say, Stay Clean.
